Bye, bye thread. Catch all y'all in the Frost buzz thread. It's been fun (in spite of the result) although I'm not convinced CK was the answer.
Uh. Coaches don’t want to work for entitled jackass fan bases, who fire coaches at the drop of a hat. Sorry bro.
Why? What if the UAA and SS did literally everything they could and CK decided that UCLA was what he wanted. I dont see how this can be blamed on anyone other than he decided to go in a different direction for personal reasons.
While I agree with a lot of this our O-Line was beyond coaching. We were too thin and too green for too long.
Sometimes I do. Tilly and Gray are very different posters, IMO. I sort of agree with you about one of them (not going to name names), even though I wouldn't take it to the extreme you have. But it's wrong to lump them together, IMO. One of them is a clear BS artist... the other one was just trying to post info he thought was legit.
Agreed. Some people get their information from (in my opinion uninformed) "insiders" and others get theirs from waitresses at chain restaurants. Also not going to name names
HowdyGator: Go back and look at out our rosters in those years. Match up the lineman to where they are in the NFL. The year after we went 4-8, our center ended up starting for the Colts Super Bowl team as an undrafted free agent. UF had 10 rookies make NFL rosters that year-- 4 were drafted. (Translation: they looked bad on tape, but when they got coaching, they were NFL players). Our line depth problems began Muschamp's last ear and Mac's first 2 years.
Are you shitting me? Please let me know when Tilly and Gray cost UF money. This is ignorance on a level I can’t explain and I am from f$&@!?& Palatka, the birth place of stupidity. Sean, do me a favor and just stop thinking. It is a danger to all humanity.
LMAO. Clay-boy has his widdle panties in a wad after a bad day. But here's the deal sunshine, you call me out by name you need to have your facts straight... I have never claimed at ANY time in the entire coach search process to have any inside sources telling me who the next coach is... I have shared nothing more than usual info and Intel others have posted on this site from other sites and made that clear too. I made it quite clear after Mac was fired that my sources inside the UAA couldn't get anything on the next coach, that Scot Stricklin's office was closed down tight. Btw, those sources are the same ones who I repeated here on GC that Mac's job at UF was in jeopardy in the two weeks leading up to the UGA game, and I PMed with other members here who can back that up too. So before you're moved to FILTERED, I suggest you run along and get a nap and point your fingers at someone else sonny. I could say more, but a little man like you doesnt deserve any more of my time or attention. Make sure mommy gets you a warm cocoa and tucks you in tight too.
Incredible to me that the only FACT that is currently known is that Chip Kelly decided to take the UCLA job, rather than the UF job. There are a LOT of possible reasons why this could be the case, including the fact that Kelly already has a strong recruiting network in California, and none here, and that a powerful booster and benefactor (Wasserman) helped make the pitch for UCLA (Kelly enjoyed the same at Oregon with Phil Knight), whereas UF has no such booster/benefactor to ensure that Kelly will get whatever he wants, whenever he wants it. In the end, the conjecture that Kelly's decision was based on such things as "UF insisting on Kelly hiring certain assistants (i.e., Shannon), or the lack of UF's current facilities, or the UF administration wanting to "interfere" in Kelly's selection of assistants, or that UF "never made an offer", is nothing but gossip and rumor. Kelly and his agent always had the upper hand in the negotiation, and never had a compelling reason to make a decision until having the opportunity to weigh multiple offers. Additionally, the notion that UF "has lost Scott Frost to Nebraska", or that UF "has fallen to the point that no one wants to coach here", or that "Stricklin, Fuchs, and the UAA all 'absolutely hate the football program and are extremely content of its state of affairs" is also just gossip and mindless rants from folks who refuse to separate reality from fiction. Many of the next set of desirable coaches (Frost, Norvell, etc) won't be available for direct discussions for another week, though conversations with their agents can certainly be underway in the meantime. Since Stricklin has done an unprecedented job of keeping leaks to a minimum, we should expect another week where everything we read that doesn't come from Stricklin is gossip and rumor, which journalists and others use to fill the real information void. In my opinion, the best answer is to trust Stricklin to land the best available coach for UF, and to enjoy Mike White's great basketball team, and other fall sports, while we wait for Stricklin's announcement.
I know I'm a little late, just got back from the whipping, but I just want to give a big screw you to Chip and the "insiders" that insisted for days that the day was done. Bunch of clowns.
