The thing is....they are Not the fans, or the people spending the money, but the people allocating those funds and calling the shots..yah those people don't care about football.
Stricklin said the coaching search would be locked down.....as a consequence these things you list here are what some came to rely on as the Kelly negotiations were in progress. That's why insiders here tried to give y'all some info to fill in the gap. Until we know what happened, there's no point in getting mad at anyone but I think you can put Chip Kelly at the top of your list.
The treatment of Mac will not be forgotten by the coaching community IMO. A competent program would have just paid Mac his buyout if they wanted to get rid of him. Would have made a statement to prospective coaches. IMO the UF job was a hard sell to begin with but is even harder now after that fiasco. Oh well if we suck from now on we got what we deserved.
That depends... One of the very posters that was bringing the info already placed the blame on the administration. Not that I am ready to go attack Stricklin... But do we believe them for some things and not others?
It's mind boggling how bad the UF football program is right now. Whoever the next guy is, he got work to do!
Keep that sunshine pumping The admin is burning this program to the ground and we got people inside the burning building going "this is fine". Until people truly get angry and start speaking with their mouths and most importantly their wallets nothing will change. The UF football coach should be provided with top of the line resources, we are like the Wal-Mart of SEC programs
They have better facilities and they give their HC control to implement their program. They are willing to pay full buyout (12m) whereas we try to nickel and dime a coach.
It’s not about $$$, it’s about support, commitment, and control. This isn’t rocket science. Kelly didn’t go to UCLA for money. And it’s delusional to think a HC picks a job based upon weather and night life. He picked UCLA because they are currently showing more commitment. Simple as that
They have gotten one from me for close to 30 years, along with the same season tickets I've held since then. You know Gator football is bad when I sit at home for an FSU game. But I won't go watch this product, I just won't Money isn't the issue for a program that grosses well over 100 million dollars and is the flagship symbol of the school. The issue is we have people in charge who don't respect and understand it's importance, and have allowed it to be tarnished. They take money this football team raises and they spend it on other sports and revenue losers like baseball, prioritizing their facilities first despite our team having stuff that's older than some of the posters here.
It's not as simple as that.....what do you know about Stricklin's agreement with Kelly in regards to support and control over the football program. You can believe what you want and bad mouth Stricklin but is all that based on fact?
Control for the coach to hire his own assistants. And not be forced to keep a super nice guys who recruit the best 170 pounds LBs in the nation, and rub bellys with the best of them. Control to not have to worry that he will be terminated at any time without receiving a dime, like we did to Mac Pretty simple stuff
