Some of the info giving here was clearly wrong. I won't name names, but as recently as 3 days ago one of the 'insiders' here said there was nothing to any UCLA story. Even called those stories 'mumbo jumbo'. That's not a 'I was right at the time, but something changed', statement. It's clear now he was wrong at the time he said it. So the constant chest beating of "I was right on everything I said" is just nonsense.
I never forced my narrative on anyone, I stuck to my guns on what I was hearing - had no reason not to. I even stated if/when I was purely speculating on my own end versus what I was actually hearing, and what I was hearing was being heard from people way deeper in the program than me. So.. *shrugs* They want me to say I was wrong or my info was wrong, when it wasn't. Chip just made the decision to go somewhere else, despite what UF threw at him. I'm not infatuated with proving myself to these guys. I kept it cordial and fun with them even when they took it to jabs. Oh well - I'm watching our boys lose right now lol
I believe you were being told the truth. And I’m thankful for you filling us in on what you were hearing. However “insider” information is only valuable if it ends up being correct. I don’t blame you. I believe what you were being told was what people thought was going on. But again anyone can claim to be in the know.
Exactly my point. They were right, things changed and in the end they were wrong. Insiders can be right and then wrong at the same time, as things are fluid. Its slightly different as he did go for a couple days. But its the same concept. The result was he was still a Gator in the end. People act like everything is black and white, and there is no fluidity in negotiations and big life choices.
I was adding to my post in your quote. Don't be stupid like that other moron.
I'll chime in & keep it related. Thank you for sharing what you knew. Kelly backing out and playing us isn't on the "insiders". Now I know UF can't expect to micromanage big name coaches. If "the board" wants that prepare for middle of the pack for years to come. Micromanaging, though, is completely different from any violations clauses and TBO I wouldn't be comfortable without them in place especially with someone with this kind of history. UAA needs to go anti-Foley on this and literally open up every checkbook, line up at Frost's house....hell throw in free college for his kids, and get it done.
I disagree. They know as much as they used to but as the age of digital info and viral news is upon us, what was once exclusive to those insiders is now available by searching sources from various locations. Perfect example, my info from my friends at the UAA while both of them are low level had all this information and while this would just be news for me and a couple people years ago, today I can say it for everyone in one post. Same goes for everyone else that knows more people than I do. It’s just the day and age is different and the news is more liquid.
I agree that's why I always took the stance of this is what I'm hearing. I was repeatedly ASKED "what are you hearing?" so I shared. To be truthful I have had waaaaaaaaaaay more people appreciate the info than attempt to attack me. I'm working on not responding to them, it's fun though.
I really don't think this is remotely analogous, but the bigger problem is when you're batting below there Mendoza line and telling the stat keeper you went 4-4 the other day. It starts to feel a little dubious
Oh shut up already. BenTrill shared the information he had. It’s quite possible he was making it all up but it’s equally possible that, as in life, things changed. We all understand your opinion. Some of us however are capable of understanding that when people are involved there is no such thing as a done deal, but rather the information as it exists at any given point in time and therefore are willing to give BenTrill and Tilly the benefit of the doubt. We promise to not try to change your mind if you stop trying to change ours.
I think most people are rational and know that things are somewhat speculative and fluid until something is formally announced. I am sure there are many many people that just read the board without being signed up as well. If anyone reads for inside info and takes it as pure gospel, then that is on them. Not on the people trying to shed some light into what is happening behind the scenes. If you seek to be in the know without being part of the UAA, then you have to know that you are getting only parts of the puzzle, and nothing is concrete.
