Muschamp and Mac were bad coaches. The pro style offense didn't suddenly become ineffective because we hired the wrong coach. All four of the major programs around us run pro style offenses.
He's certainly been this whiny this entire thread...don't know about other threads. He's on the ignore username list for sure.
From another sites insider OK, here's what I have. First off, it's been extremely difficult to get information the past several hours, as most of my sources have clammed up completely. I spoke to one source who told me the general feeling is that everyone on the UF side is quite confused. I stand by what I reported that there was an overwhelming feeling that Kelly and Florida were on the same page leaving the Sunday meeting and that UF felt good that Kelly would ultimately be the next the head coach. Even Wednesday night I was getting stuff from guys about some of the details in terms of what Florida was willing to agree to that Kelly wanted. This was a Saban-to-Alabama, Harbaugh-to-Michigan type package that they had put together in terms of control of the program and their commitment level to him financially. I'm not sure there's anything else they could have done, because at some point you have to just realize the other guy is going to demand something that's just not doable if he's not comfortable with the level of commitment they were already willing to provide. I'm not entirely certain that Florida has 100% written Kelly off. Again, the lack of communication from my sources leading up to this has left me a bit puzzled, likely because they're as blindsided by some of this as we were. But I'd say given the quality of the people who have reported it looks like Florida's chances are kaput, it would take something exceptionally bizarre at this point for Kelly to Florida to happen. I have been told that the Taggart interest may also be coming from Florida's side at this point, which is contrary to what we were told early on. That may be an option they explore. I don't have much to add on Frost, other than to point to the one source I had throughout the Kelly stuff who maintained he was still a real option. Presumably that's still the case (I don't have anything on Nebraska, but many feel Lars Anderson is fairly credible when it comes to the Huskers). Hopefully we'll get more soon. I think the first step is getting through tomorrow and Sunday and figuring out which dominos land where in terms of Chip Kelly, and then we'll have a clearer picture of where this thing is headed going forward.
As would hiring Mullen. He is 2-17 against ranked teams. I mean, if we didn't like Mac always losing to higher ranked teams, we probably shouldn't double down. Spaulding Smails would be making a huge, career-limiting mistake if he thinks he can just get the old MSU band back together at UF.
Yeah but...I know a lot of Texas folks that thought he got a raw deal there. I think his time at Texas was very Muschamp like...took over a team of entitled spoiled brats...had to clean house and just never really caught a break. I wanted Strong when we hired Champ. I still really like the guy and we could do worse, but with the coaches out there now, we could also do better.
He actually broke down what the USF defense was doing that slowed his team down after the first quarter and then made adjustments. Imagine that.
This is the side effect of not having a coach announced. OnlyGators.com Florida Gators news @onlygators · 1m Florida #Gators three-star DE commit Taylor Upshaw announces he has flipped to Michigan.
Okay fellow Gator Fans, all these rumors floating around today appear to come from old articles. Has anyone thought about how tight SS and UAA have been with information. There are very few people that truly know the facts around CK and where he may coach. UCLA is not the source that is talking it appears. UF is not talking. CK seams to be very hush hush about his intentions. Where are all these so called know it alls getting their information. I have no idea where CK will decide to coach in 2018 if he coaches at all. I don't believe these talking heads know either. I do know one thing for sure and that is , we will all know soon who the next head coach for the Florida Gators will be, if it is not CK we will possibly know that by Monday. I believe SS wants a coach in place before the early signing day period. We will all know by then.
Totally relaxed. I believe all is good until I see otherwise. All this stuff floating around out there is someone trying be relevant, clickbait or both. CK has been demanding but at some point SS has to call the bluff. That’s where we are.
Ya know, this has the feel of being in a relationship with a really insecure person. You know the drill, they set some standard you must meet to prove your commitment, so you meet it, and things are good for a bit, then they set another bar and you meet it. This goes on over and over until you say, this just isnt worth the trouble.
So...... why do you guys think that Frost is so much better than Strong!? Strong has the better resume. most people that is saying that hiring Strong would be a mistake, can’t give a damn good reason why it would. Smh. I’ll poke holes in anyone’s argument. Look at his resume.
Problem is always the same. If they do catch lightning in a bottle the big boys poach him away. That's football.
Their is a legitimate push from the “old guard “ for SOS Brady, Shane, Doering and of course Buddy Martin and Franz Beard are trying to drum up support
With all the suspension BS, the step back on the defense this year, I really cannot see Stricklin telling Kelly no deal unless we keep this guy or another. Without seeing the list of assistance coaches Kelly asked to be vetted, it is hard to know, but hopefully they would be upgrades and we would not lose the entire current recruiting class
