Crap. I call it crap. But he still won. Maybe he learned something from his firing. Maybe he brings in a better OC. But at the end of the day, even with crap offenses, he won in the SEC West. He's a safe pick. He's not going to give us 4-8 seasons. If we can't get one of our top options, we need to prioritize getting this one right. Les Miles can attract great assistants, and he can recruit.

No, it's saying that the reports everyone is referencing say that it was UF that backed off. Personally, he's my #1 choice but I don't work for the UAA.
I like Charlie. I know you say that as a let down, but as has been noted many times, it's about the fit. IMHO, Strong would be a great fit for UF. Gator to the core, great recruiter, plenty of experience...his tenure at UF I'm sure would look a helluva a lot more like L'ville and now USF, than Texas. I think Texas is the outlier/fluke, not the norm--especially given the reported undercurrents he was facing with Texas boosters. I don't think he gets that at UF; he's already a known commodity, and has built up quite a cache of cred. and good will with Gator Nation. He's not quite as exciting as CK, but I like him as next man up.
Can some of you guys be any more of a downer? It's not like one man would make or break us. Three weeks ago we didn't even list Kelly as a possibility. There are plenty of coaches out there who will get us back. Florida's recruiting sells itself. Even Mac, the blind squirrel, could stumble upon a nut every now and then. The best coach for Florida is the guy that is all in on the gators. Mac was never all in with us and he quickly imploded. I want a coach with a lot of energy ready to die for his school.
Point taken but I’ve been watching. What do we have - 53 scholarship players suiting up? Just ran off our coach in crazy circumstances. It’s a mess right now. We aren’t a year away. We need something positive to happen in the program ASAP.
Lane has been fired from every job hes had except UT. Dont ever bring his name up for anything at Florida. Heck, even Layla fired his sorry butt.

Sure. If it's off limits, one of the mods will pull it. Doubt you'll get a vacay for that (unless it's like blatant, vulgar porn...then maybe...)... but that's just an educated guess--not authoritative at all.

Maybe? It's possible he learned? He'd have to adapt to a spread at Florida. I just personally do not see him breaking us out of our recent slumber. We've succeeded with dynamic offensive minded coaches. Miles just doesn't hit that huge check mark.
I agree with that. I guess I was focusing more on how this coaching is being handled and not the overall state of the team.
