But weren't they correct about the airplane, about SS going silent, and the national media saying CK to UCLA (after it was already reported that UCLA had moved on)?
Missed 1000. Also missed what ever news made the title change, was there something more than Frost winning vs USF? (edit - is it more than the USA today story?)
Judging by their attempt at a super top secret plane ride out of Ocala that got scooped by internet nerds and Buddy effing Martin, I'm gonna say no...
Stoops was never coming here and neither was Shanahan. The only way anyone thought we 'whiffed' on them is if they read some of the inside info which was all rumor back in those days. So your correct in it's not any different. When you say 'we' thought it was a done deal, obviously it wasn't. The only way you thought it was a done deal was by believing everything you read. It will be a done deal when the contract is signed and the UAA has a press conference. Kelly may wind up here, may not. Frost may be a 'done deal' to Nebraska or maybe not. The reality is the people who know aren't talking.
IF this is true, color me sad and pissed. Dictate staff decisions to your new coach? Really? We're giving him the keys to the kingdom THEN telling him who he has to keep to win? Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeit. I'd walk too.
The date I posted was important. In college football you need your guy locked up before recruiting season. There's not going to be a major program waiting in the hopes that Chip Kelly gets fired and blow away their recruiting season in the process.
I agree the venue was electric, but let’s not get carried away. Their stadium seats 45,000, we have 20,000 more than that at a minimum for our cupcake games. While the USF game was a sellout for UCF, they averaged less than 30,000 for the the previous 4 games.
Ya know.....I've learned a lot more about this fan base than I have about the coaching search. It's disappointing to see so many grown men show that they have the maturity level of a 13 year old boy. I get it that they want desperately to see UF return to the glory days of old. We all do. But I'll tell you this. I wouldn't want any of you leading the company that I own. From the Debbie downers to the hardened cynics to the sky is falling crowd you all display the attitude that causes coaches to think twice about coming here. The arrogance and sense of entitlement is hard to watch. I sincerely hope you represent a very small part of the Florida fan base but I fear I'm wrong.
If Kelly and Frost are gone, Leach is my guy. Texas Tech and Wash. State were terrible before he got there and his offense is big time. Bigger upside than anyone else imo
Chip Kelly has a history of flip flopping on coaching decisions: http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/or...sf/2017/11/canzano_feels_like_chip_kelly.html "But when faced with taking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers job on the eve of the Senior Bowl in 2012, Kelly second-guessed himself. He took the Bucs job on a Sunday night, then decided overnight to return to Oregon. A year later, he turned down the Eagles. Then, several days later, he took the job and left." .... so you never know. This ain't over till it's official.
I think Stricklins idea of UF football is just a peg low then what we expect He was asked and said compete at the highest level, championship experience with integrity etc The answer is....I expect the the next coach to strive for the University of Florida to have the best football program in America period... and he will be provided every resource needed to get there Until we get there ...we won’t see the glory days again
To be fair, the first two are no brainers and the last one was actually backwards. The CK -> UCLA thing happened first, then people said "this is to be expected."
in all honesty Leach would be unreal football wise at UF. But I think the media and him would absolutely kill each other lol
