Mike Leach is 56. 6yr/$5m per, bring Alex Grinch(wazzu might promote him to HC), and let it fly. Ten years of Leach would leave us grinning on and off the field.

I wouldn't say all of that man. Urban proved himself at Bowling Green and at Utah as a HEAD COACH prior to us getting him. He had only EIGHT losses in 4 years before taking the UF job. It was obvious he was going to be great which is why we engaged in a bidding war to get him
There was never anything definite, no agreement, no back door handshakes. Nothing. When the legitimate media actually started picking up on this, it was pathetically so on a message board rumor. National outlets never do that but because we struck up such a storm (group think you name it) they actually went out of character and started referring to “insiders” on “message boards.” This is why people make the big bucks and we sit behind keyboards gossiping. They have reputations and their names to uphold. We get to hide behind silly monikers and will never be held accountable for referencing our “sources.”
You might want to look into what CK did with the Philadelphia Eagles when he was given the control he wanted. I'm sure UF just wanted to avoid a repeat of something like that.

And it's a leap to assume 'not financial' means 'more control' and even if it did, more control over what exactly?? You're bashing the UAA over something that is completely abstract right now. Maybe Kelly didn't want Spurrier's name on the stadium... didn't like the huge shadow it cast. Would you be OK with that?
You may not remember, but he was doing amazing things at Utah, culminating with the win in their bowl game against I believe a Stoops Oky team that was highly rated. He WAS a wunderkind in a non-football frenzy place.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing. After Charlie Strong and Teddy Bridgewater destroyed the Gators in the Sugar Bowl, it was obvious that Strong was going to be great. It didn't happen. Urban had a great track record at lesser schools, but that doesn't definitively prove greatness. Look at Dave Doeren.
