I have a hard time believing websites that I've never heard of when they claim to have an in with a bunch of college coaches. That is especially so when the writer isn't someone who is known for being tapped in.
I’m a lifetime Gator and alum pal. Same for you? I’m just not going to waste time and emotional energy if we aren’t really committed to being fun and exciting and try to win. No way to chase Kelly and Frost then hire Strong and say with a straight face we want to make Florida fun again. Sorry. If we whiff on these two get Taggert or Norvell at least roll the dice with exciting offense and recruiting. Strong will NOT be exciting or win championships here
OnlyGators Update Friday, Nov. 24 — Day 26 2:30 p.m.: FootballScoop.com, in speaking with a variety of coaches across the industry, believes the “prevailing logic” is that Chip Kelly will choose UCLA over Florida and that the Gators will then turn to UCF head coach Scott Frost as their next top candidate. The website also reports that neither school has begun speaking with additional candidates at this time but that South Florida head coach Charlie Strong is hoping that Florida comes calling. Chomp: We’re providing this update because it’s the lone item of any consequence that has been published by a reputable outlet since end of day Wednesday. Nevertheless, considering the website goes out of its way to indicate that its information is not coming from Kelly, his agent or the schools, it should certainly be taken with a grain of salt at this time. That said, the information that Strong is trying to make it clear he wants to coach the Gators is relatively common knowledge, as is the fact that Florida would pursue Frost if it does not get Kelly. Considering Mississippi State is reportedly, according to Sports Illustrated’s Bruce Feldman, doing whatever it can to keep Dan Mullen (including a potential offer of $6 million per season plus an increase in staff pay), UF’s options may be slimming if it does not land Kelly — and if Frost either chooses to stay at UCF or move to his alma mater of Nebraska.
Well Mac had some of the worst offenses in America. Charlie can't be much worse. Regardless, I like Charlie but no chance he should sniff UF's sideline without a lot more HC success.
It could turn out we have egg on our face. If it does, keep Randy Shannon and get a damn good OC. I don't care at this point. Do we really absolutely need to hire the "wrong" coach? I say no.
Sources: Chip Kelly out of the running for Florida job Pat Forde Yahoo SportsNovember 24, 2017 Chip Kelly was the head coach at Oregon from 2009–12. (AP) Florida has moved on from Chip Kelly as its potential next head coach, multiple sources have told Yahoo Sports. Florida administrators met with Kelly on Sunday in New Hampshire and remained in contact with him earlier this week, but no deal was forthcoming between the two. Florida had kept its options open while engaged with Kelly and is now prepared to pursue those other candidates.
Pat forde reporting that Florida has moved on. So are other outlets (reporting chip to UCLA). Sounds like a wrap guys. Time to change the title and move on... https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-chip-kelly-running-florida-job-194401666.html
I don't want CS as my head coach either, but USF offense is ranked #12 in the nation. Where would Florida been if we had the #12 offense the last few years? http://www.cfbstats.com/2017/leader/national/team/offense/split01/category10/sort01.html
Yahoo! simply saw that we were slowly losing steam on our way to 1000 pages and wanted us to get back up to speed. It's just more smoke.
