So Foley flew to meet Urban from Vermont. Jeremy owned a house there and that kept him off the radar. So I looked and Stricklin once lived in Madison, Mississippi before moving to Starkeville. Madison is a suburb of Jackson and very close to the airport. The AAU activity in the past 24 hours was Jackson to GNV. Could it be that he is moving opps to Mississippi? and running flights from Jackson? Hmmm.
Thanks for the insight on the respect thing. You can be respected for integrity, ability, results (stats), etc. While in charge of the D this year we are vanilla, there hasn't been development of the LBs and many missed assignments. In short very little player development. I get it that we were thin at spots but bottom line is our players aren't better than Jimmys than the Joes they played against and RS doesn't shine with in filed results in that situation. FTR I respect him, his story and the effort he has given to my university but I'm not handcuffing any incoming coach with the restriction he must definitely be retained.
I agree with this somewhat but in my opinion, the area UCLA is in blows Gainesville away. I am a UF alumni so I am not coming from a place of animosity. I have lived in both areas and when you are making the kind of cash Chip would be making - it would be hard to beat living in that part of the country. So that is one thing we can’t do anything about.
I thin stricklin should realize if we lose out on Kelly because someone thinks he should retain Shannon, people will march on Gainesville and burn it to the ground.
I remember Urban telling a story of walking onto Florida Field during a recruiting trip and being "in awe". Not "pretty cool", but "in awe".
I recall it being argued that Shannon is great at evaluating talent and finding diamonds in the rough, as opposed to landing big time recruits. Well, yeah, if you can't land big time recruits, you have to dig for diamonds.
If a CEO doesn’t have the skills to evaluate a position he should not be making calls on personnel. There are plenty of instances of this. It happens in highly specialized professions. Think coding, engineering, finance, etc. The CEO should delegate those personnel decisions to individuals qualified in making those determinations. Stricklin has as much knowledge on what makes a good linebackers coach as you or I.
Tell me who was a viable better candidate that year? Minus Bob Stoops who wasn’t in play for anyone ?
A lot of dead time til Sunday so pequena pollos lets remember this. Until its official, its either him or its not and we'll know soon. What if Slim Shady had this planned/planted, especially after being fooled at the airport sunday night? Just food for thought.
Hi Chip, LA and Southern California has had:(M1.5 or greater) 6 earthquakes in the past 24 hours 42 earthquakes in the past 7 days 207 earthquakes in the past 30 days 2,909 earthquakes in the past 365 days Signed, SS
I love this thread! No evidence, just people staring about looking for "signs". It's like a bunch of ancient seers squishy-slapping a bunch of entrails onto a stone, looking at them, and saying "Ah-ha! Chip Kelly is..." All of the people then stand around going "Hmmmmm!" or "No! It cannot be!", while applauding or shaking their fists at the sky. Then, the whole SS thing, where he basically said in the beginning, "We won't be talking about this. You'll know when we want you to know.", and people then running to and fro saying "SS hasn't said anything! It must mean something! He's holding his cards close, so that means... ". It's absolutely hilarious. Meanwhile, when cruising our rival's sites, I see them doing the same thing. "Hmmm... I'm looking at my horse turd oracle, and I believe that...". It's fun watching them squirm, mainly because Chip to UF is akin to Genghis Khan saying, "You know, I'm thinking about getting in the war business again", and they're on the freakin' menu. It may seem counter-intuitive to most, but all I can feel is that it's a great time to be a Gator!
