A large number of reliable sources in the coaching and agent worlds are indicating that Chip Kelly has decided to coach at UCLA.

The former Oregon Duck and NFL coach has been deciding between UCLA and Florida this week, but many sources are now saying he's opted for Westwood.

Not only is that the consistent buzz among agents, but some assistant coaches who have previously worked with Kelly are telling various sources that they've spoken to Kelly about specifically joining him on the UCLA staff.

No deal has been finalized with UCLA, to our knowledge, or that of any sources. It's known, however, that UCLA has made a substantial financial commitment to Kelly.

UCLA firing Jim Mora Sunday, and absorbing his $12 million buyout, was a good indication that UCLA was stepping up financially. Sources are saying that Casey Wasserman, the UCLA alumni and donor -- who donated upward of $30 million to the Wasserman Center, the football-only facility on campus -- has been leading the effort to bring Kelly to UCLA.

At this point, it appears to be in Kelly's court to formally pull the trigger.

More programs have reached out to Kelly and his representatives, including Texas A&M, Nebraska and others.

Of course, without a signed agreement with UCLA it's absolutely not a certainty. Coaches have been known quite frequently to change their minds at the last minute.

But as of now, the overwhelming opinion from in-the-know sources is that, at this time, he's chosen to be the next UCLA head coach.

It's uncertain if an agreement and an announcement is imminent, but it's expected to at least take until the weekend and after UCLA's game with California Friday night.

Those aren't the only things that make a job desirable. I've seen some unfortunate posts saying that if CK chooses UCLA it would mean he's "afraid" of competition here. That's absolutely delusional. The best (smartest) coaches are not some insecure hot headed rednecks who are just itching to "prove" themselves against Nick Saban. That sounds like a hick fan's fantasy (and unfortunately we do have some of those here). A smart coach is going to look at things like the quality of life a job offers. Along with money, opportunity to recruit and win big, location is a huge factor, as is whether he can coach without excessive scrutiny by people who will form little mobs and put him on the hot seat if he's not delivering exactly what they want when they want it. Let's get one thing straight: The SEC isn't the big attraction some in the region like to claim it is. It is a toxic fan and media environment that repels as much as it attracts. For Kelly, being able to do his job the way he wants without unnecessary headaches may trump money, and it certainly outweighs some delusional fan idea of needing to face Alabama or Georgia to "prove" something. Someone like Kelly would probably roll his eyes at that crap.

    All is good.

Unfounded rumor or report comes out.

The roaches freak out. Those who rely on the insiders are idiots

Report is shot down (or in this case completely removed. LOL)

    Roaches turn into crickets.

Those comparisons are apples to oranges. Not really an indictment of UF's program.

From 96 until now, only Alabama has won more National Championships than UF.

Since 2000 only Bama, Florida, USC, LSU, and OSU have won multiple National Championships.

Not sure what else you have to do to be considered overall elite as a program.

Well maybe another site can write an article about how that article got deleted so he must not be going to UCLA now which in turn should mean he has chosen Florida.

Are we at least all in agreement that there's nothing else good to report as it pertains to Chip and UF?
Do you need a "good" article about Chip and UF every day to be sure?
The only thing left to make you feel good is the announcement, and it's not coming tomorrow, it's not coming Friday, might not come Saturday. Are you going to do this every day?
The fact that there is nothing left to report should be all you need to know.
I'm not knocking you guys for being skeptical (ehhh..) - just want to understand your train of thought.

IMO we're a "top coach destination" only in our minds. Which is part of the problem. The gumps had the same problem IMO and finally realized they weren't. They then went "big" to get Saban which is what it takes to get a top coach. I imagine we'll just keep hoping we can find a diamond in the rough like we did with Donovan.
