The one thing I try to keep focusing on is the fact we’ve cancelled OVs this weekend for one of our biggest games. When has that ever happened? That alone tells me something is in the works and we have a coach. Probably Kelly since we flew top brass up there Sunday. I’ll just leave it at that.
I love how Heitner mentions the OV has been postponed without giving proper credit to the source that broke it first. Also, love how he throws a cryptic tweet out there. Dude is (and has always been) about promoting himself.
In some ways....this resembles 04-05 when we hired Urban Meyer but Spurrier was available and maybe interested? Meyer = Frost Spurrier = Chip It's not often coaches this elite come available. Spurrier took the Cocks to new heights (3 straight 10 win seasons and SEC EAST) and well
How does cancelling official visits signal we have a coach? I'd like to believe it does but trouble connecting the dots I think it's smart to not allow all these assistants to get closer to recruits that they could help recruit away to another school before Dec 20th
If Stricklin is smart... Sumlin should be moved near the top of the list. Something definitely went sideways at college Station. But not too long ago he was considered to be one of the brightest minds in college football.
Chip would lose his mind in LA. Just saw a live feed of the 405 near LAX, looks like a mall parking lot. Very festive with all of the white headlights and red taillights.
you have to think our assistants all have decent gigs lined up.....just waiting for game to end. Then...hey why don't you come to Auburn w me? Or hey Dameon.....Seider here at Auburn
When and if Chip (or anyone for that matter) is hired, someone on the present staff has to immediately lose his job. Or does the limit on the number of coaches only apply during the season? If not, it's what to do and who to do it to.
The way I look at it is this. Why would we take such a big risk to tell the recruits to cancel their visits if there wasn't already a plan in place for them to come back very soon to meet the new coach? If they cancelled the visits and had no coach already in place, it could be a month or two before someone is hired and by that time the early signing period has already passed and those kids we told not to come had probably already taken trips to all of the other schools calling them every single day.
Goldkamp's "Tuesday evening Chip Kelly Update" from TOS is still receiving up-votes......Just say'in!
Also, I saw a stat from a few other sources that only five coaches have ever been hired before the end of the college football season and none of them have been as big a name as Chip Kelly.
