Cautiously optimistic at best, wait and see. If it doesn't work out, hopefully 1b is ready to be courted come Sunday/Monday. Early signing period means they have to wrap it up very quickly before the recruits start to jump ship.
No, I haven't seen anything online from media that makes me confident, because I know they're all reaching - even the Gainesville Sun guys. Buddy Martin has been the only one that comes close to hearing what I'm hearing. And SOS is his buddy. Dooley FINALLY got something right today, he's been in his feelings the whole time bc he doesn't like Chip lol This will sound like total bullshit (and I'm fine with that). I know because of who I've been told by, they've been right 1000% up to this point (they said Saturday morning that the Sunday flight was happening). I made a post yesterday that specifically said you will hear all types of BS stories with no type of source tied to them the next couple of days, Kelly's team won't say anything, UF's team won't say anything. UCLA's team hasn't even said anything. One article this morning said UCLA has moved on from Chip Kelly - then tonight it's chip kelly has met with UCLA. Not "UCLA has told us..." They're just going to let people say what they want bc people will eat it up. Every last article that came out today is filled with "if" and "some think" and "we have heard" and "there is reason to believe" but not saying who it was heard from. Yesterday 247 put out a report, and then 3-4 other sites put out a article with only 247 as the source. Same thing happening today with the Pat Forde article. There's absolutely nothing left to report from a UF/CK standpoint because what's done is done, we just have to wait for the announcement. I will literally never show my face on GC again if CK isn't our coach. After I say I was wrong of course.
Not true. The UF back up plan is to go into next season with no coaching staff if CK is not the choice.
No, I keep getting sucked in responding to these click-bait articles that keep being posted. My opinion will never shift.
That makes little sense. He’s clearly the one elite coach available who left college to take on a hugeness challenge of the NFL.
You will just change your account ha ha. By the way, Buddy Martin was the one who had said UCLA has moved on. All that said, I tend to believe we got him. But we will find out on Sunday. One way or another, there is definitely a lot of reach and fiction happening in the media. This really comes down to if Chip wants to best job available (read: best opportunity to win big) or the one that's most comfortable.
They’re hearing a lot of the same stuff that became public. Also, Scott Carter(uf’s In-house beat writer) tweeted a story about traffic in LA. Noah Brindise just tweeted that it’s time for Uf to move on.
Chris Landry is far more plugged into the goings on than is Darren Heitner. https://landryfootball.com/ucla-administration-chief-donor-make-pitch-chip-kelly/ Stricklin even got advice from Landry about talking with a wide range of candidates.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all by this. I’m quite sure Urban would happily announce this to the media given the first chance to do so when CK accepts a position somewhere else.
Without getting into the accuracy of the reports...It wouldn’t be about UCLA being a “better” job. Top to bottom no one believes that, including UCLA. But with the spread of TV money, the across the board TV exposure etc...it comes down much more to “fit”than it does helmet. Chip knows he can win anywhere, he won big at freakin Oregon - he doesn’t need a helmet school. He knows the pac 12, in LA he could fly under the radar given the level of celebrity presence there, and have lower expectations from the fan base. And who knows, he might prefer a big city to a small town fish bowl - he is an introvert by most accounts, if UCLA makes it clear that they have deep pocket boosters who will take care of him - best of both worlds. I am not saying that’s what he would or should choose as florida has a number of advantages too, only that it’s not as simple as “Florida is a better program so they are an afterthought”. That said, not worth getting worked up about either way (at least for me), none of us have a say in what he will do. Stressing over things we can’t control is wasted energy. If he comes he comes, we will know soon.
Ok, I'm stepping away from this addictive post. I'll see you guys at the presser. I think I can stay away for that long.
