NFL teams and their lawyers too smart to fall for that one. He has to get paid a market wage or else the courts will just impute that as the wage when enforcing the contract.

If it was as simple as "I want to coach the Gators." Chip Kelly would have already signed on the dotted line. I think that's a given. UF is in the process of upgrading its facilities. Florida is a hotbed of football talent. The SEC champ is an automatic selection for the playoffs etc.,etc. Right now it's about the details; money and money and there's also money. That's the long and short of it.
What happened in Philly was directly related to cutting Tebow, We all know what happens when you cut Tebow!
Better hurry Chip the weather is turning to cold turd soup in the North East, better get down to Florida asap
Good post. I think it is less about money - or at least compensation - than it usually is. Unless Kelly would be paid over $6 million, his comp for the next two years is not going to be affected by what the schools agree to pay him. This is because he gets a guaranteed $6 million/year from San Francisco for 2018 and 2019. Market for a coach like him is below $6 million (only 4-5 NCAA coaches make that much). Sure, there may be a difference for 2020 and beyond, but that's not likely to be big, or to make much of a difference to a guy who already has so much money and likes to live in New Hampshire. This is about where he will be the most comfortable and where he can have the best opportunity to win some championships.
Great idea. He can get his spending cash from Osmos Lumber and Florida Dairy Farmer ads which probably aren't mentioned in SF contract
This is correct, but we don't know how each contract is structured nor do we know the language used. Further, even if that argument wins the day, it doesn't prevent SF from forcing you to court to enforce it.

Just realized something. SS is a genius, it's Iron Bowl week playing for a spot in the SEC Championship game and a spot and the National Championship Playoff and everyone is talking about the Gators.
