The correct comment would have been "Don't forget Mel Tillis, who went to the University of Florida", granted he left UF and joined the Air Force but a Gator none the less. I left UF and went into the Air Force, instead of becoming a country music star I came back to UF and finished my degree. I'm sensing I made a wrong career choice somewhere along the way.
I'm not seeing how an announce of an agreement in principle would sever the 49ers' contractual obligations.
Parked his bus in front of the O-dome many a fall Sat afternoons back in the day. A really good guy and big Gator fan. RIP Mel.
This is all well and good but we don’t reach 1000 by going this route. This thread is beyond you and I or anyone else on this board. It’s bigger tha Chip Kelly and Skool Scotland. So while I respect your choice to bow out for the week, it is imperative that this thread go on. Go Gators.
Absolutely. It will happen sooner if the media continues to leak "rumors, sources, and such" to generate hysteria.
Why would an announcement now vs next week make any difference on Chip's pocket? If he signed the contract yesterday, then the timing announcement has zero effect on his pocket. Not a lawyer here, but I have signed contracts with UF before, and the date of the contract does not have to be the date of hire. If he is worried about NFL money, date of hire can be 1/2018, but he would have signed a contract already. This looks like another excuse explaining the "delay" after the series of vettings, Shannon's feelings and now this. Does not pass the smell test.
My guess, and this is only a guess, is that the issue may have to do with clarity of the wording of the 49ers contract.
