Eyeballs bring merch sales. Nike stands to make tons more money if Chip brings that high powered O to Gainesville. They've cashed in on it before. Him going to UCLA means zero money for Nike.

 

Nike has been involved with our coaches since we signed with them in the 90's. If I'm not mistaken, they were footing the bill for half of Spurrier's $2M contract. They have a fiscal interest in the image of Florida. Though I have heard the Gators may be transitioning to the Jordan brand here soon.
