The update from the TOS is up publicly on twitter and to sum it up:Stricklin, Fuchs and co flew up with the understanding a deal was going to be signed. The Jim Mora firing broke while they were in the air and then things likely changed.

IMO, i think it’s likely kelly told them “I’m going to sign” but then UCLA broke while they were on the way and Kelly changed his tune too “I’m probably going to sign but I’m going to meet with UCLA first.”

I don’t think we came back with a signature. At this point, i believe the gville sun and Andy staples over Thomas goldkamp, in all kinds of weather or that twitter idiot, Joe V.

 

If Kelly does not end up coming to UF it won’t be because he’s afraid of playing in the SEC.

Agreement in principle or contract signed or whatever. They brought the closer, President Fuchs. In negotiations like this, the big guy only shows up to close the deal, not to try and persuade. It's a rule.

It would be unorthodox to make the trip with the university president without the expectation of closing the deal with some kind of formal signature that assures Kelly is the next coach.

But I think this is false. Because I remember sitting in my living room when UCLA fired Mora and then 1-2 hours later the plane took off to go to NH. Unless they mean they were in the air doing something else, but UCLA firing Mora 100% happened prior to Stricklin and company going from Florida to NH

Scott Stricklin is no dummy. He is pulling a statue of liberty play on us. He has the control and he has the power over the situation. He knows the airports and UF planes are being watched and didn't want the official unofficial announcement to be on a tarmac at 11:30 PM. IF that does happen, then the presser to "announce" Kelly is largely meaningless. Meanwhile, Chip Kelly is arriving at a different airport on a chartered plane and then driven to the stadium in a vehicle with really dark tinted windows.
