Based on all the information available, I'm a believer that Chip Kelly will be named the next Gator football coach. However, why do I get the feeling nothing will be announced this week?
Chip needs to compare the state income tax of California versus Florida. I know which way that would sway me!
I'm thinskinned and antisocial and I will eat Saban's turkey right off his plate. I view Kelly as the quintessential tough irishman from the harsh northeast who instead of grabbing your lunch money figures out a way to get you to just give it to him. Which could be the exact reason he ends up in LA.
If Kelly had signed his contract there would have been a press conference set for today. There would be confirmations. It's too important for recruiting with the tight deadline on signing day. UF wouldn't wait on getting the assistants signed. The news of the Kelly hire would be too important. Even if the assistants were a contingency, announcing would make it hard as hell for Kelly to enforce that. he wouldn't be able to stop the train. I see Mullen to Tennessee, Frost to Nebraska. Can we buy out Fuente? I'm all out of ideas after that....
By the way, Robbie's article is even less clear than his tweets. Seems to say both that we don't know if chip signed and that sources say he didn't in the same article. http://www.gainesville.com/news/20171119/sources-uf-officials-meet-with-kelly
"More productive discussions." Such as Chip asking, "Where can I find a good rich widow in Gainesville?"
We're all doing great. Everyone is relaxed, well rested and getting a lot accomplished at work right now.
Dear Chip, Your Irish, I'm Irish, I have a lot of whiskey, a brisket on the smoker and cabbage on the stove, Just sayin! Go Gators
Like many others my concern about Kelly has always been that he lakes integrity. Look at the awful way he treated Tebow in Philly. That's just one example of how he treats others. Couple that with a very strange, aloof personality, gigantic "small man" ego, hatred of recruiting and now possibly playing both ends against the middle and there are lots of red flags waving in the wind. My fear is if he comes here it will be very short lived and that's exactly what we don't need.
He does say that no credible info is getting out so there's that. He's admitting he don't know nothing.
More vetting going on now. Strychnine has asked David Cutcliffe for permission to talk to his cardiologist.
