Greg is Mac's number one fan boy. I expect him to be negative toward UF for the rest of his time on earth.
Not to sound negative here, but there is a reality that for a person with loads of money, Palos Verdes > Haile Plantation, especially for a West Coast guy. But I can’t imagine Kelly didn’t know he could have that job any time he wanted it, and if he’s really playing us at this point we really didn’t want him anyway
First, there is NO ONE on here who knows anything and we are all making conjecture. That said, I think you are mixing up a head coaching position at the highest levels of college football with buying your next SUV. It looks kind of the same but it has NOTHING in common. I have no doubt that we are seeing a history-making hire, whether he wins any NCs or not. You just don't go out and kick the tires with the dude who has a porno king mustache. WAY too much at stake to do that. What we have seen is the lower minions doing their diligence as they are hired to do. What we are seeing now is akin to selecting the next pope and that means getting the REAL players involved. Now will Chip absolutely be our coach? Who the heck knows but you do NOT do what we just did without a pretty damn big sign that he will. UCLA, or anyone else, would have to be a Hail Mary beyond belief. JMHO
I'd bet a year's salary he doesn't think like that. I'd love someone who thinks like that to be UF's coach, but everything I've read or seen tells me that's not Chip Kelly.
Trying to get mentally ready for Dan Mullen to be our next head coach; not easy to go from a Mercedes to a Dodge though. Very disappointed Steve Stickler couldn’t get it done.
Dude's Hew Hampshire. I hear it is a beautiful place with people who are no nonsense. I bet he hates LA. On the other hand he wants to live in a football office and if UCLA tells him he doesn't need to talk to anyone outside the office and press room he might go for it.
Seems to me that a person with any consideration would say "don't fly up here yet because I want to listen to UCLA." But maybe "his game" doesn't include saving people a lot of trouble and embarrassment.
I think McElroy is right and we have egg on our face again. SMH This program has become as big a joke as UT, but of course everyone keeps making fun of them. And if everyone thinks we are simply going to get Frost instead, I've got some prime RE in NJ I'd like to sell them.
Not sure about the timeline but they may have been on the way. Or he might have said that and we said we're coming anyway.
He's already won big in the PAC10 but lost to an SEC team when he had a chance to win the crystal football. He then went to the highest level of competition and had moderate success but again did not win any significant hardware. He now has a chance to return to college football, where his system works best. If your nickname is "Big Balls Chip" are you making your run at a championship at a basketball school or at a school where your name will be in the same sentence as Spurrier and Meyer where you can dethrone the reigning king of college football? I just don't see how he chooses UCLA over UF. If he does, he does not have the competitive spirit and burning desire to beat the best and stand on top of the tallest mountain. I believe he does have that level of ego though, and will be wearing an Orange and Blue visor in the Swamp next year.
