Agree that Scapp Staplin is going to play it coy. Just to play devils advocate (not saying this is the case) but the decision to sign is Kelly’s whereas the decision to put Fuchs on the plane is UF’s. It’s not like they would say to Kelly, “hey, we want to fly Fuchs up to meet you but he’ll only come if you guarantee that you’ll sign the contract.” We just don’t know yet what happened in that room. Today’s news (or lack thereof) will be telling.
Ok I'm getting really tired of this. I mean I'm just tired. I'm not getting much accomplished lately and my sleep is suffering. I'm tired. Work productivity in Gatornation is going to be worse than the Monday after Thanksgiving. Stephen Screwingwithusall is doing a good job of keeping us off balance. We're all over here like it's about to be Christmas morning only to find out the day has been moved to some unknown future date. The guy is pure savage, unlike the previous AD.
Indeed. Divining it from who was on the plane is impossible. Fuchs heading to NH for the first meet seems rather logical as none of these guys know each other. Bottom line is the candidate ultimately holds all the cards in these searches. CK either wants to come to UF or doesn't. All SS's can do is structure a legit offer.
So yesterday was interesting. Is the concensus now that UF made a big push following the UCLA news and now it’s a waiting game while Chip talks to UCLA and makes a decision?
I have to respectfully disagree. No way that group of 6 flies up north Sunday night just to present a contract and see what happens. Having been in sales of all different levels my adult life the big boss/bosses doesn't get involved until it's signing time. My guess is the deal was worked out via some in person with plenty of conference calls and mark ups and then once all parties agreed the crew flew up to have a "signing party". Then I believe UF put the brakes on the announcement and having CK on the plane last night in order to be able to have a prime time announcement in an orderly fashion either Monday or Tuesday. All the while keeping UF in the news during a season that would otherwise have us irrelevant. I guess CK will be on a plane some time today so UF can announce in person at a pressor not getting off a private jet in the middle of the night at a small airport.
Not sure what the consensus is, but I believe: Everyone goes to NH to get it done. It gets done. They come back agreeing to act coy. UCLA story had nothing to it. Announce Kelly within 48 hours.
Our good friend @DarthGat0R pointed out that my numbers were off in the post counts. Took a look this morning and he was correct. Seems the code to identify user names was missing those with spaces and dashes (-). So, I've updated the counts and we have a new top ten. I even validated my results this time. If your name was on the list before, your counts were correct.
Yep. As discussed, Skip Sneaky wants to make a big splash, so he had to try and put the kibosh on the leaks coming out
It would be nice. He’s been trolling us pretty hard recently. Only time will tell. But...we’re Tennessee...we’ll probably Mess it up. Hey, at least we will win the offseason hype? Right?
I agree mostly with @atlmover except for one other possibility. True, you don't bring the big dog unless it's signing time. That's a rule. So either Chip signed and it is a formality and an announcement is forthcoming today, or Chip was contacted by UCLA during the process and tabled the signing. If the latter, that was a very disappointed crew that came off the plane last night.
Moreover, if we don't hear it's final today or very early Tuesday, something is very off with the Chip Kelly possibility.
