From what I’ve been told, the genesis of the “UCLA meeting with Chip Kelly tomorrow” is a writer for UCLA’s site on TOS. However, that writer has since informed his members that he was misinformed and that Kelly is indeed UF bound. Also been told that the only basis for Staples and Dooley and Andreu comments that “it’s not a done deal yet” is that Andy Fawbush has to sign. Chip signed. The contract is being flown back to him tonight to sign then it is OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL. TIFWIW. From another board.
i tried looking at reddits ucla football sub but its a ghost town there lol. was wondering if i found any smoke on anything but that isnt a good place to start.
Please..... you seriously think the deal is not gonna be called "done" if chip has signed it and all they need is a signature from some lawyer at UF? This is getting rediculous. If Chip signed it, then it is done. The only reason they would say it is not done, is if he turned them down tonight.
I bet Kelly has signed and they are just waiting to sign it themselves to announce it and make it official. The President wouldn't be on that plane if it wasn't already a done deal.
This kind of reminds me of a tight game where you don’t know the outcome. In the end you’ll always remember it as a cool experience, but during the game it just feels shitty and keeps you on edge. Hopefully we pull it out. The sad part is then we’re back to reality of a 4-6 team than can hopefully beat a 4 win FSU when I’m at the game Saturday at noon. And then the season is over. Other people are watching playoff standings intently and it just doesn’t matter to me.
also why do so many long time posters here get so bothered and upset, downright angry, when new people post? its.....its really odd. Like do you only want to post with the same boring 20 people every single day? It's the absolute weirdest logic to me. NEW PEOPLE BAD. NEW PEOPLE GO AWAY. NEW PEOPLE DRIVE ME INSANE. OK!
What cracks me up about all of this is that probably 99.9% of this board (myself definitely included) knows nothing about exactly how a coach is brought in, who signs what, and who has to represent what. The vast majority of us don't even really know what the courtship process actually looks like for these things and when and how it starts. Yet we take our limited experience with contracts, apply that to a pretty complicated document that takes numerous parties to actually agree to, and extrapolate like mad as to what it all means. When you sit back and really take it all in, we're ridiculous, haha.
Even if Chip did sign, Stricklin wasn't going to announce the hiring to some random dude that showed up at the airport streaming on Periscope.
