Update: Kelly buzz..."The Thread" Hall of Fame bound.

If they went up there today to sign him, and didn't, that's not good. All the preliminary stuff should've already been done. I believe $$$ for him is no factor in this. It comes down to where he wants to be a HC at next, period.

Florida has been here before with Urban Meyer and Notre Dame. Florida pitched first and then had to wait. He'd called ND his dream job, but he decided he could win a national title more easily at Florida. Chip will have his own criteria.

Chip Kelly is a man of media and $$$.

The bling, the lights, the glitter of El Aiey may have more allure to him than anything Gainesville has to offer. It is a factor in recruiting. There are Gators and there are noles and there are canes. Some kids want the sobe vibe and the famu atmosphere. It is what it is.

I hope that is what we have to overcome. I hope it is NOT Something Else.

I want the guy and hope we land him (and I think we will) but there is something more at work here than just championship potential as a program, I fear.

BTW everyone, it's 7:50 in California. Dunn can very well hear out whatever UCLA has to say tonight if that's indeed what they're doing. I wouldn't blame them if they just listen to their pitch, doesn't mean anything.

Go over the Oregon forums and you’ll see they say Chip 100% over Frost. Chip isn’t old, his Alma mater won’t ever come calling to steal him away (though the nfl might), he recruits fine, and he’s a more focused version of Frost. Or Frost is a less robust version of CK. I would 100% be ok with Frost but if someone else in college gets CK I’d feel like we lost and I don’t think Frost will be an option anyway with NU calling.

 

pac 12 offers weaker D which makes him look more like an O genius & an EZer path to playoffs.

I'd imagine at least some of the players/recruits are following the rumor mill just like the rest of us. That unverified info from the guy's son spread pretty quickly and was taken as fact. I'm sure at least one or more of the players received tweets/texts about it.

 

Would you rather have Nick Saban or his former assistant trying to emulate his system to succeed? If your answer is what LOGIC tells me/you it should be then you'll start to understand why Kelly>>>>Frost.

 

Not only that but chances are that if it's someone who is well known they will be 'verified' and will have a badge/icon.
