He didn't make a clarification. He made an entirely different statement. There is no room for subjective judgement on either of those statements. "The source said Kelly wants to talk to UCLA" vs "I should have said he may want to talk to UCLA before making a decision about where he coaches next." That is indeed awful journalism. It's his job. He's not an amateur

People easily forget sport media is what Seth Schneider does. He knows how to spin stuff, how to create hysteria, how to hype up a story line, etc. This isn't Foley, just mentioning there will be rumors and all of that stuff in the press conference set up all of this.

Jim Mora's buyout is $12 million. There is also a sizeable staff buyout, I think another $3 million or so. We can outspend UCLA I'm guessing. If Kelly ends up there, it won't be due to money. It will be because he'd rather be at UCLA. Plus, I doubt Kelly would have rushed into signing with us if he wanted to be at UCLA as it has been said since October that Mora would probably be out and that Kelly would be high on the list. Basically, we're making the best play we could make more than likely. If it doesn't happen, it more than likely couldn't have happened save UCLA not firing Mora.

If he really wants to go to UCLA and was playing us all along then screw him. If he would rather come here but UCLA just beats us with an offer he can't refuse then screw Stricklin. If he is indifferent and we lose him to freaking UCLA then I don't know what to think.
