I said this earlier this week on a few places. Knowing how bad Floridas athletic department is, Frost will end up in Nebraska and Chip will end up at Tennessee or UCLA and we'll end up with Plan Z
That would suck if Chip Kelly to UCLA instead of UF, especially after all the excitement on this thread. I have a feeling that the cost of living does not bother him. Eugene, Oregon costs 13% above the national average, and housing is 33% higher. Gainesville is 7% lower than the national average, and housing is 26% lower. Los Angeles is 66% above the national average, and housing is 300% above the national average.
If we won't get into a bidding war over Chip Kelly will we get into one over any other coach? It's probably going to take $5-$6 million per year to get Frost. Nebraska wants him pretty badly. You understand that, right? If UF wont pay that we'll probably get our 3rd choice or worse. If CK wants $7 million per year I say we pay him that. UF should have a very large buyout in case CK wants to leave if we pay him that much (or more), though.
Wouldn't say never be the same again but a big setback...like when Notre Dame missed on Meyer and got who? Charlie?
Dead silent for a week and suddenly Kelly's boys are singing because UCLA opens? Which is the job he really wants? OK, sure.
So why does the main stream media stay away from Chip to UF for five days, but immediately jump on Kelly to UCLA? That scares me...missing Kelly really will be very, very bad for us unless we snag Frost which seems less likely now than two weeks ago. Getting nervous now... shit.
Lmao, a guy making that much does not care about cost of living. He might spend a million or two more on a house but he can sell it when he retires if he likes
Dude...Don't be a jerk...no one is making you read or listen to anyone. Now, someone catch me up. My dad was put in the hospital this AM and I haven't been paying attention today. Why is everyone in such a meltdown?
Because they're the most recent school to fire their coach. Simple - it's in the news so let's take advantage and stir up some interest for clicks.
I have a hard time believing that we don't at least have some kind of preliminary agreement in place by now. If they couldn't agree on money, power, facilities, etc., I would think that one side would have left the table a long time ago, and we would have heard as much. Hiring him mid season as compared to after the season could have some impact on his NFL contract, so there may be some kind of significance to the delay other than that they are each sitting with their backs to each other and their arms crossed. They could be in full agreement and want to make sure the contract is legally worded in a way that all demands are met and each side is protected. Who knows, but I just think that if they weren't in agreement by now, he or we would have already moved on.
Which is why they cannot be cheap on this hire!!! If anyone should be making making top dollar it should be the hbc because this is the cash cow.
