Telling indeed. Most typical source of info in all of these negotiations are the agents. Strange that something hits now...hmmmm.
I expect a tweet or other statement from SS this week saying we never pursued CK. I suspect the whole thing was an elaborate story to generate click revenue the way things work nowadays. The lack of stories amongst the big boy media outlets about UF interest in CK this whole time and mainstream media immediately jumping on CK to UCLA after Mora's firing is telling IMO.
Eh, let em fire away. Haters gonna hate. You have posted some good info throughout. Don't remember you ever giving guarantees. Still think in the end your sources will turn out to have been correct.
So i ll ask once more. Is your position still that kelly will be the next head football coach at florida.
One thing we know for certain, there will be many autopsies written a out our coaching searched. Yet to be determined if they will tell a story of an AD who moved quickly to get rid of Mac so that he could successfully pursue Kelly. ...or if he dragged his feet and got played by chip and lost out to UCLA. Given that this is a top 5 coach and there are no other top 5 coaches on the market, we have to acknowledge that the stakes are high...which is why people are so on edge. Most people just don't want our program to end up with taggart when it feels like we could have had Kelly.
Plus you have SBnation saying we want Frost first and foremost. Not saying they are right either, but certainly interesting
Think about this. Kelly and his agents certainly aren't giving any info to ANYBODY. Not even ESPN who he works for. So do you really think CBS knows what's going on? Do you think these media outlets have real sources? Nobody and I mean nobody in the media knows what's going on. More than likely, any "reports" coming from any sort of mainstream media is probably misinformation intentionally intended to create uncertainty.
Yeah we've been raking them in the last ten years in football and basketball along with all those top 5 finishes.
I think you guys need a distraction... Lots of good ones in there recently, if I say so myself. Not that I had anything to do with it!
If SS comes out to squash the rumor and says they never pursued Kelly he would become a bigger idiot than we could have ever imagined. Who the HELL in their right mind would not pursue Kelly. Oh, I know, the school that has the minor league coach as their #1 target.
Long time lurker. Had to join due to the epic nature of this thread. Regarding UCLA I have two thoughts. One, it tells me that Florida is very close to signing Kelly and that made UCLA nervous and they pulled the trigger on Mora (perhaps UCLA was thinking we would naturally go to Frost first; my guess is that Kelly's agent called UCLA and told them listen if you want in it has to be now). I find it all too convenient that as soon as more mainstream media outlets start jumping on the Chip to UF train Mora gets canned. Second, I'm sure Chip has known UCLA would open up -- remember when Vilma gave that interview when he said maybe linebacker coach at UCLA, maybe Florida -- and that he would listen if they called. But then why go so far down the line with UF? Either he actually didn't and we have jumped the gun or he did and the Kelly camp is using it for leverage to get something. Guess we'll find out, but I'm guessing leverage. Either way I just have to say you guys have created the best message board thread in history and I have enjoyed all 500+ pages.
I had someone list off a bunch of these candidates as "solid" coaching prospects for Florida Lane Kiffin, Seth Littrell, Mike Norvell, PJ Fleck, Matt Campbell, Dave Clawson While hes not wrong, going from "CHIP IS A DONE DEAL" for 5-6 days to Norvell or Kiffin is like.....being told you won a $10,000,000 lottery but when you went to pick it up they tell you "sorry, it was actually $1,000"
