Anyone who’s in HR knows there are always sticking points, etc, that make almost any hire take longer than it “needs to”. Our perception of time is skewed by our passion but getting a HC is splashy then there’s a month or so long process of filling a staff. Maybe, just maybe, SS and CK think it makes more sense to drop a HC and a “fully armed and operational battle station” rather than a splashy press conference followed by weeks of hemming and hawing over assistants.

Chill, fellow Gators. Listen to the dog that isn’t barking: denials of the conventional wisdom re Kelly. Do you really believe Stricklin would allow our impressions to remain if they were invalid? Gator42 is worried HE is going to be embarrassed? How about the people whose professional reputation rides on it in one of the most important gigs in the NCAA? Think he wants to look stupid? If he felt it was going South with Chip and ran like a fainting goat to scream to all of us that there was a fire in the paint locker, think that will help or hurt negotiations? Could a deal fall through at the 11th hour? Sure. Doesn’t mean it’s our ADs fault, or some nefarious booster or Coach Kelly’s either. Just couldn’t make it work. It happens all the time. What sort of moronic employer dumps a Brink’s Truck because they have found the second coming of Christ to hire? One that’s out of business soon. What employee fails to be sure the new gig is where he/she can succeed? “ Yes” just opens up a new can of worms.

I sort of appreciate the methodical approach that seems to be in place here. May be the MO of Mr Stricklin. Get it right BEFORE you launch the op. Always worked in my old profession. Sure, no plan survives first contact, but get as much right as possible before crossing the LD/LC (the “starting line”).

BenTrill, You are the best and thanks for everything. Now I will say you were not totally alone on Kelly as I was there as well. In fact if you knew my real name I will say I have a post on Buddy Martin's live show on Facebook prior to Nov. 1st that our next coach would be Kelly or Stoops. I got ripped as well and told I was crazy. I then started to work friends that are big bulls to make sure they were fired up about Kelly and if they were not I got them fired up with very thorough research including my own vetting process on Kelly and speaking to two former Oregon players while Kelly was there. I knew from beginning I wanted Kelly and I was not going to just sit back. I doubt Stricklin actually called the big bulls I spoke with but I wanted to have them fired up just in case he did. I personally think Stricklin is a bad ass and knows exactly what we need.
Thanks BenTrill for all you do and we really appreciate all your info.

On another note I have been slammed with work cruising timber for past two days. I will re check all my inputs and sources but from some of my inputs I already have I am hearing the exact as you. A lot of details to work through but all very positive news especially if you want Kelly as our coach like I do.

Bottom line we have to show patience and then I think early next week (that timeline is a guess none of my inputs or sources have said that) will be great and exciting. I am thoroughly enjoying all the great photos of the ladies. This is the best thread ever.

 

Is there a precedence of another major program firing their HC during the season and hiring/announcing their new HC before the regular season ended? (the clown at LSU aside)

If that is factor here, okay. If he's at all slow playing to talk to another guy in Dec to comparative shop that would be a colossal mistake, imho, and where the road forks for me.
