Chip has one speaking engagement all year - post game press conference after winning the SECCG.

    I’m good with that.

Well if we have not heard anything by now.... it wont be this week. It takes a while to assemble media and what not. I am personally thinking that Chip is not in the cards.

^^ A few more boarders and she's about to capsize! Send that barnacle-covered bucket of slop to Davey Jones' locker!

I get what you're saying but I think people may be reading this wrong. I suspect what is meant is that he wants it to be clear that this is Kelly's team and his assistant coaches answer to him only! He doesn't want to feel like Spurrier is going to be looking over their shoulders and being involved.

But I don't think that statement precludes Kelly or his assistants from seeking advice and I fully expect that during the offseason they might all sit down and exchange ideas. I think what Kelly is trying to avoid is a situation like what happened with McElwain, where Spurrier came in and wanted to be involved. That gets awkward.

More on the Chip/boosters/speaking thing. That was one of the early snags. The culture at UF is shifting in all areas. From the way Fuchs does things, the huuuuuge difference between Foley and Stricklin, and now with Kelly's hiring being imminent. Some of the older, traditional guys don't like that. But, if they want to win, and if they want UF to progress (as a university, not just in sports), it has to and will happen.

SS will have it no other way, that's what he was brought here to do. He wants to win, he wants to put the guy in place to win. The days of it being a popularity contest is over. SS doesn't care to ass kiss, Chip doesn't care to either.

I hate to always throw it back to Saban, but he is the bar. He talks when he has to, and you may not always like what he has to say. But what are you going to do? He wins. ALL. THE. TIME.

Precisely. Spurrier won't be a party to the contract.

Are they signing a football contract or making a rap cd?

I'm sorry but from everything I've read about Kelly, if he didn't want SOS poking his nose in, then he would tell SOS to stop poking his nose in. And I think he already knows that SOS is the kind of guy who would respect that. So it doesn't sound to me like something that CK would really make a point of addressing before signing a deal.

Agreed. Just looking at it as a point of discussion since it's pure speculation at best, trolling at worst.

Yeah I can see that. The fat cats want to make sure they get their schmoozing in to impress their friends. “Hey look who I hang with”.

Oh I agree. And I certainly don't think this would be any sort of sticking point in negotiations.

I once had a date with a gal with big silicone boobs. When it was over it was like having two weights lifted from my shoulders.
