That 2nd thing about legendary coaches sticking their beak in on the field stuff is pure BS and hyperbole. Asst Coach vetting? Yes. Toning down all the speaking engagements aka designating a set number of engagements agreed to by both sides? Yes. Not that shot at SOS, not true at all. SOS knows his role, hence his tweet about letting Stricklin do his job. Bob is just trying to add something "new". Thanks for posting that @flat ronnie
If Chip's offense moves the football like two fat guys moving a piano up 10 flights of stairs, cough-like Nuss-cough, then SOS gets to jump in. Can't see that happening though.
I'm probably as big an SOS fan as you'll ever find, and I don't find that requirement an issue at all. Nobody wants to be hired for a job and constantly have the guy that used to have it before you coming by your office and telling you how to do things. Spurrier himself ought to understand that, and I'd bet he has no issues with it either. (edit: assuming that's real news, which I understand the chances are probably low)
Is there any thought by your sources as to how long the vetting of the assistants should take? I have no clue how that process would work so just curious if you or anyone for that matter would have an opinion.
I'd be in trouble too if my wife knew I'd developed a slight crush on "Ice Queen". She's almost too good to be a woman.
THIS JUST HAPPENED While at a conference at the Gainesville Hilton, the FSU WBB team is have meetings in the room next door!!! I am sure that is sign that Chip Kelly will be announced today!
Well it would depend on just how many assistants he actually knows he wants to bring. Nobody knows the exact number, I've seen as little as 10, up to 3oish (I highly doubt the higher number). I would assume that piece was wrapped up yesterday if it was the lower end of the spectrum.
Why do you think all the traditional Gators insiders (De La Torre etc...) have been completely quiet on all this?
How would you even write that Spurrier can't give advice into a contract? That's obviously just made up BS.
Not saying he doesn't understand the concepts, but how much could Spurrier even really help with Chip's offense?
Sorry if this was posted on page 229, but Urb singing Chip's praises yesterday after a meeting: http://gridironnow.com/urban-meyer-genius-chip-kelly/ Interesting.
