Unless the new strength and conditioning coach puts some muscle on him , I do not think he could take the punishment.
It seems to me that the challenge of keeping the next recruiting class together would put a lot of pressure on making an announcement of the hiring of Kelly sooner rather than later. Some of our commits are visiting other schools and are surely being told that the Florida football program is in disarray. Since there are no issues with Kelly regarding existing coaching contracts and since any contacts with our recruits by Kelly or the UF coaches would have leaked out by now I don't think any firm deal has been made. I expect that Kelly would have his pick of available assistant coaches (Who would not want to be on that staff at a program like Florida?). As has been previously mentioned there could be vetting issues with this or that coach but other than contract issues I don't see any reason to delay an announcement any longer than absolutely necessary. We may be in for a very unexpected surprise in that we have built up our expectations so high that the hiring of Chip Kelly has become forgone conclusion. I am ready for anything. I was (and am) very high on Frost but it looks like he has Nebraska in his immediate future. So Let's hope our conclusions are valid regarding Kelly but be prepared to be disappointed.
I don't think UF is holding things up. My guess is that Kelly's lawyers are not wanting him to sign the contract until everything is done. I'm not too worried about recruiting. I'm pretty sure most of them have a pretty good idea that Kelly is going to be our coach and assuming it's done by the end of the regular season, there will be plenty of time for the coaches to reaffirm the kids who are committed or leaning to UF, including the EEs.
Them reporter types are pretty cagey individuals. How come we haven’t seen any reports of CK or agents visiting UF? You know they’re all over the airport web cam.
