You point out the obvious. Gator fans are so eaten up with such unrealistic, silly expectations that they are in a constant state of emotional distress. Look at this thread: 269 pages of complete, unsubstantiated rumor and speculation, yet that speculation is going to cause thousands of gator fans to need psychiatric treatment if Chip isn't hired. And of course, Stricklin and many others in the UAA are going to get roasted because of those absurd expectations. Chip has some baggage and UF should take it's time and consider all options before making the decision.
I think you're giving him too much credit. These dudes tend to live in a bubble when making decisions like this. They think they have the best option and that people will be ecstatic when they announce. They could be sadly mistaken here.
Do you all agree: Under normal circumstances a hire like Frost or Mullen would be welcome. For instance, after Urban left. However, with 8 yrs of failure and 2x failed hires, do you think there is a bit more to this hire than chosing someone familiar with the program (Mullen) or the big up-and-comer in Frost?
