I seriously doubt that Foley is flexing any muscle, but if he is, someone needs to remind him that three of his four football coach hires were awful. I appreciate all he did for UF, but his opinion on who should be hired as football coach should be at the bottom of the barrel, only slightly above Rawpimple.
If true... When will Foley learn? My goodness... In the corrupt world that is college football... the list of elite candidates with a completely clean background is extremely short... If we were to hire Strong... might as well have kept McElwain... Apart from the major recruiting upgrade... nothing indicates that he will win big here based on what he did at Texas, certainly a job of comparable status and resources. He won big at Louisville with Teddy Bridgewater at QB... and he's a good coach... but the timing is bad for Strong... he's not the guy to fix the issues we currently have... apart from those on the recruiting trail.
fwiw, from the boys at footballscoop.com Florida: This weekend internet message boards in Florida (who knew those still existed) apparently started lighting up with reports that Chip Kelly was close to signing up with Florida. While it would be fun to see Chip at Florida, for what it is worth, we have not heard that from any contacts in the coaching profession. Will update as more information on this search begins to come together. We can relay, as we reported last week, Scott Stricklin has been out, doing his due diligence. This one should not go long.
Foley retired. He should stay retired and let Stricklin actually do his job as an AD. God Almighty...
And there it is..."Done Deal"! LOL to think anyone believes Foley has any say, sway, or weight in this matter anyway.
It's Gardner Webb. I think we will be ok and Mike White may be in on it. If this is even remotely true.
I also thought Foley was the one that passed over Strong in 2010 and when we canned Champ as well? Now he wants him?
