Good writeup from CBS about some of the nuance with a Kelly hire: https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...-kelly-but-there-are-obstacles-to-his-return/ The part about the show-cause being a scarlet letter, and the FBI investigating bball for the thing Oregon got punched for, is worth considering. It's true that Kelly doesn't look so bad in hindsight. But anybody who isn't concerned is talking themselves into a trainwreck. I would HATE it if we sweet-talked Kelly with a Brinks truck. The dude needs to have a burning passion to be our next coach. If we have to beg, then his past makes him not worth it, IMO. If the university says Kelly, then I'll trust that they thought long and hard about it, and I'll support it.
Feel like we are UT fans with there Grumors now with how long this Kelly thread has gotten. Twitter is saying it is a done deal and expect an announcement in the next few days so I suppose we will have to see.
This can be interpreted as not knowing the facts about Kelly’s NCAA violation. Stricklin knows the facts now after his due diligence
My opinion is that it wasn't as big of a deal as people made it out to be. He had his punishment. I would be shocked if he wasn't extra careful to be squeaky clean moving forward. He is going to be a Head Coach in college soon.
Thanks for all the updates Tilly. I've asked my couple of sources inside the UAA and they can't get anything. Its like breaking into Fort Knox hearing anything out of the AD's office they say. Stricklin has the whole place on an info lock-down need-to-know basis.
I guarantee coaches and AD's read these boards. They all like to say they don't and pretend they don't have time. But, they have time to go golfing, to send tweets, to have lunch with friends, and so forth. They have time and they are fooling no one.
If it's Kelly, I just hope he comes with a "chip" on his shoulder for all the SEC Hype during his tenure at Oregon, and wants to WRECK SHOP within the SEC. Of course, doing so with Florida.
And perhaps there are terms in his contract to cover UF in case of violations. But yeah, it was not as big a deal as some of us fear.
I think Tuesday was Calico Jack's with those plastic cups, quarter beer night or something. Bernie Machen still suffers from PTSD over it.
In that case.... Mr. Stricklin I hope this finds you well. I’ll be your best friend if you hire Chip Kelly immediately. Thanks. BFF ufmc84
Early or late you still just outed yourself to your sources and by extension outed your sources when people start to connect the dots.
I agree with you. I hope he comes or becomes ALL GATOR. My impression is his transgressions were not severe and he is unlikely to do so again. Maybe it's possible to protect against these things in the contract.
Uhhh....no. Edit...For the record, I was disagreeing with the "It's dead" part, which it clearly isn't. I actually personally agree with the other parts, although I'm not an NFL fan to begin with.
Got us A math major ! Love it Have u not ordered a 9$ beer at a stadium near u and not been ecstatic ?
Me too - I've always trusted my alma mater and it's been upheld. I expect they'll do what's right. But rivals will use it and there will be a perception issue to deal with. I wouldn't be surprised if they passed on him just because of that. On the other hand we have new blood and boosters and officials who know it is do or die time. Can't get it wrong 3 in a row. It will be interesting how they handle the issue - either lay the issue bare and talk about it and move on, or say "we're satisfied" and not talk about it.
