Or Redskin fans how great Spurrier was. The NFL is irrelevant in the assessment of someone's ability as a college coach.

We need to pay up for the coach we want. We have had almost a decade of going on "the cheap" and we have a dumpster fire.

What does Frost being young and energetic have to do with his coaching ability... I want the better coach... not the coach who can run a marathon.... plus I think our players need a kick in the arse (not literally) to make them more disciplined

And SOS said “I would ALMOST say with 100% certainty...”. So he really didn’t say it, just ‘almost’ said it...

I expect the big money boosters would get behind this move in a heartbeat

I think he agreed to almost say it before he agreed not to almost say it.

Yep the NFL and college football are two different games.... I bet most who keep bringing up Chip in the NFL didn't even watch his teams in the NFL

I'm heard a few days after this first got public on Friday. The insider who told me said they weren't sure about that though.

Spurrier could have just been being coy about it. If they're going to hold off I'd be sort of surprised because theres really no reason to as long as all the contract details are finalized.

Otherwise, announcing asap (by sometime this week), would really get things rolling, especially in recruiting. All the top kids would just flock to UF to play for Kelly.

I guess my thought process is you get a coach with his whole life in front of him and maybe he resonates better with recruits. Does Kelly even like recruiting? That's where I was going with that. I agree that being you and energetic doesn't make him a better coach.

Is Kelly a disciplinarian? I'm not aware of him having that reputation.

That's why I want the Vols to get Gruden.... just because he was a good NFL coach doesn't mean diddly squat in college football... he's totally unproven as a college head coach

The way I look at it is that Kelly was a CFB coach and then he did his NFL stint. Now its back to CFB at the age of 53, maybe to finish up his career as a college coach. I sort of thought after the big paycheck he was making as an announcer that he wouldn't be interested in CFB again, but the reports quietly going around are that Kelly to UF is a done deal.

Has there even been a shred of credible information regarding Kelly and UF?

I’ve seen the screenshots from twitter “journalists” and radio hosts that do not seem to have any ties to Kelly or the University of Florida.

Apparently the only thing holding up an announcement is tilly.

Not "many", a few here or there, but OTOH, he had a recruiting hot bed like California nearby also.

53 is NOT old for a college football coach

Note. I do not feel we are at the done deal stage. I use a system of information...more than sources

I have no personal bullgator source. Most of the chatter is coming from outside of Gator Nation.

As for SOS...I believe he was speculating not prophesying.

I'm pretty sure Saban was 53 when he took over Bama... most people thought he would have been gone back to the NFL by now

Even if it doesn't happen today... what percentage would you give it to eventually happen?
