I'm on the record as saying I hope UF goes in a direction of integrity. I'm a graduate, I care about these things more than wins. However, I'm also on the record, over the decades, of humility. I don't get on fire-the-coach bandwagons because I have such little info compared to the AD. I trust them: they know more than I do. So I'll trust them on Kelly. If they think the "Show Cause" is not disqualifying, I'll get on board.
Bruce Pearl lied to the NCAA and UT. That’s why he lost his job. Same as Jim Tressel. Tressel would still be at Ohio St if he hadn’t lied. Kelly never lied to anyone and never fought the sanctions because he was leaving anyways. The only comparison to make is the Saban situation which amounted to nothing.
Nah. They'll get on board. The yearning to win will be a powerful force and lift whoever is hired. As long as they mean it when they say we'll give no quarter to any foe and ignore the lamentations of our rivals.
When we have 55 on UT at the start of the fourth quarter they’ll clamor for ugly uniform combinations.
Memphis is 9-1 and likely top 15 after this week...and UCF beat them by 27....could have been 40 plus other than a few mistakes. Gave Navy first home loss in 3 years if I remember correctly SMU is pretty decent squad (see much better than our team, FSU or Tennessee) UCF is a pretty damn good team...I wish we were half as good at this point.
I'd take Chad Morris over Norvell and Fuente right now. I think he'll be one hellava steal for someone.
Hope you're not a fan of Urban Meyer when he was here then because comparatively speaking Chip's show cause pales to the way Urban let the inmates run the asylum here (and even though I used the correct figure of speech there, it still couldn't be offensive seeing as so many players were law breakers)
FWIW I feel disgust about Urban and wish he didn't coach here, despite the victories and the joy I felt at the time. I was naive and wrong.
Not me. I want a team that is YEARLY expected to win the East and that is often getting to the SECCG and that occasionally wins or competes for an NC. Basically the team we had from 91-2004 (and I jumped on board in 95). And at the the end of the day, I NEVER want a team that loses like we have been for nearly 8 years or so. I’m a realist and I know my desires are pretty great but the never having a horrible team should be not met only occasionally, not for as long as we’ve been less than good this decade. Call me spoiled but that’s what I’d be happy with.
Honest question: why would the UAA or such use misdirection when it comes to the coaching search? Esspecially, why would they lie about getting a really good coach? What good does that do?
After one poor coach and another horrendous one, can't miss on this hire. Don't want to become irrelevant. Needs to be a HR hire and Imo, Kelly is the only sure thing. If he leaves after 4-6 years, but win big, we'll be in much better shape than we are now. Guys will line up to play for him. He's a bit of a strange dude, but he knows how to coach. Runs a very fan friendly offense and difficult to stop. If not Kelly, need Frost or will be disappointed.
