Let’s keep it real. Kansas isn’t the ‘96 Chicago Bulls. He’ll fit in.

He coached one season. ;) It was a stop-gap due to Sloan resigning.

I had some friends in the band. When we made the nit final four in ‘92 I flew up to NYC, I crashed at their hotel with them, and snuck into MSG with them by carrying a drum. If you were there I saw you I’m sure. Steinbrenner bought us dinner with the team one night, and everyone seemed predisposed to hook up with someone even if they had someone in Gainesville. I think I also crashed with the band once or twice on football roadies in New Orleans too.
So I got lots of band privileges without even being a member.

I think I opted out of the NYC trip because I was playing at Disney. Glad you had a great time hanging with the bandies. :D

Yeah, I remember. I have been going to Gator games annually for almost 60 years fyi. Was there in Baton Rouge when we won our first SEC championship, 17 years ago today was watching us destroy Ohio St for the NCAACG in Atlanta. my opinion, worst coaching hire (even for one week) in UF history = DeVoe

After his rugged stint at UF, you sound like it’s a lock he will fit in. It’s not really the issue how good a program Kansas is; it’s more will the problems he had here occur at his new school. My thought on why it didn’t work for him will be confirmed or not in the first few weeks of the season.

I have no reason to believe he won’t fit in at KU. I could say the same about what you said… it seems like you are suggesting that KU is full of future hall of famers who are already so good that RK has no shot to be a contributor.

He's not going somewhere to be a "contributor." He wants to be The Man.

Ah, ok. Well, that's a good mentality to have.

That was fun, but a bit of a mess when everyone crumbled up the newsprint and threw it on the court.

Jack, you really do your homework. Very impressive. Thanks for the info.

I think he hurt his shoulder at Wake Forest and never recovered. He was actually looking like our best player for a stretch but lingering shoulder injuries are the worst. I saw him rotating his shoulder around all season long during games. Hopefully he'll find his mojo again but he lost it at some point after being benched. Good pickup for Kansas.

I know next to nothing about Kansas’ roster or program so you are incorrect on your assertion; not even remotely close.

    Ok, but you said this...

So... if you know nothing about their program, then why are you saying they are a team full of blue blood all-stars? All I said is that I don't think they are the '96 Bulls and that I felt he will fit in fine. You aren't being consistent.

I don’t know much about their program - but I know enough about college basketball to presume KU has talented rosters generally year after year (like UK, Duke, UNC, UConn, etc.)
My use of the term “blue blood all stars” is a euphemism based on what appears to be true and just confirmed by me on Google for 2 minutes tonight.
I seriously hope he fits in there because I like the kid and want him to succeed in his sport. You think he will fit in fine and I would take a let’s wait and see how it goes stance based on him not exactly “fitting in fine” at UF.

I don't think it's fair for you to say that I am declaring a position and you are taking a wait and see approach. You clearly stated (first, and before me) that you didn't think he would fit in, so that is not a wait and see approach. I was actually countering your negative stance with a positive stance.
