Interestingly it appears that China is intervening in the 2024 campaign to elect Trump. My guess is that their rationale is that although Trump very often uses anti-Chinese rhetoric in his campaign speeches the Donald is much more easy to manipulate than Biden.

You are correct that China realizes that a second Trump administration will greatly diminish US world power, both by design and by incompetence when unintended. Plus Trump generally hates the very concept of the United States. Remember Lee Kwan Yew's quote on why he thought the US would remain ascendant over China
