Got an email from an old friend, Swiss Gator. Love his level of enthusiasm and optimism over the Gators and find it hard to disagree with his post. And yes we could be even better in 2010. Hope you enjoy.

This guy is the same person who said that Spurrier would flop once he lost Galen Hall’s recruits. What a blowhard. I suspect he does not believe what he says, he just says this crap to create controversy and get people calling his radio show. On this one he went over the top. I am particularly irritated about his swipes at Donovan. I am confident that Donovan is going to have his redemption, if not this season, next season. People are all worried about the loss of Calathes, and certainly he is a huge loss, but I like Walker. He is a fierce competitor and he will be fine at point guard. Plus, with Boyton at the wing, I actually think they can be better as a combo than what they had with Calathes. The big difference is that they are going to be so much stronger up front, which is why the lost last year. But Walker and Boyton have to be in great, great shape because both are going to have play 35 minutes a game, Walker maybe the entire game. (Photos: Billy Donovan, John Brantley, Jonathan Bostic and Mano a Mano Spikes and Tebow).
As for Meyer, I am sure he will just use this as motivation. The idea that he is scared of Saban and worrying about the Gators in the post Tebow era is just ridiculous. I personally believe that UF will be even better in 2010 than they will be in 2009. Some of this depends on whether the Pouncey’s return for a 4th year, but I think they will. Tebow is not going to be missed as much as people think because Brantley is a great, great QB in his own right and I think people will see that this season. And yes, they will miss Spikes, but Bostic may turn out just as good and I think Jenkins is going to be a superstar on the outside. And they just keep getting deeper everywhere. They are at the USC stage where they are just plugging in the holes with more talent. No way Meyer goes to ND. First, the fat tub of lard is not going to be fired because he should win 9 games with the pathetic schedule they have. Second, even if he were fired, I am confident that Meyer would not leave. Third, I think this will just piss him off and he will want to prove these naysayers wrong and kick butt even more severely than they have to date.
In all honesty, I think we are looking at 2 or 3 year stretch where we are unlikely to lose a game unless it is a big upset. Call me crazy, and I am not necessarily saying that we will go undefeated
that long, but if they lose it will be an upset. UF right now is just incredibly loaded. The reports on Nixon are very encouraging, plus Patchan is at 285 and should be at 290. They are just incredibly deep and get deeper and deeper every year Meyer is there. I think the OL will be better next year (2010), the receiving corps will be incredible, the backs will be among the best in the nation, the DL will be the best, LBs will be the best and the DB will be, by far, the best. Keep in mind, most of the starters last year in the national championship season were sophomores or freshmen. They will be juniors and seniors in 2010, with incredible talent plugging the few holes that they do have - Brantley for Tebow, Parks for Hernandez (or one of the current recruits), Debose for Cooper, Hammond for Nelson, Trattou for Dunlap, Bostic for Spikes, Jenkins for Stamper, Brown or Bushnell for Haden (if he leaves early), Rainey for James on returns (or a host of others). I just don’t think these people realize how young UF was last year and are focusing so much on Tebow and Spikes. I have absolutely no doubt that Brantely will be an AA quality QB and Bostic an AA quality LB (although Jeff Luc could be so good that he is a star from day one, assuming we get him).
I just hope Bama does win the West so we can beat their ass even worse this year in the Championship. As for Tenn, I am not so sure we will win by 60 like some think. Kiffen is a buffoon, but his daddy knows how to coach defense. UF is going to win and going to win big, but it may be only a 4 TD cushion, not 8. Still, if everyone stays healthy, this offense is going to put up ridiculous numbers. Plus, the defense is going to be so dominant that the offense will have more opportunities, plus they will score a lot. Then add in the special teams - I think they are going to break some scoring records which will stand a long, long time in the SEC, particularly with the pathetic schedule they have.
They should be ashamed of their out of conference schedule. Pathetic. Right there you have 3 games where they could score 100 if they kept the second team in until the 4th Q. Troy may give a little competition, so that it is not such a horrible game, but the other two are just disgraceful. I do not understand.
Can’t wait. Alan
