There are some good memories and some that are very bad. Ran across two photos of them this evening. Am sure there are many who have heard of the billboard and the monument, am equally sure many fans haven’t seen either of them.
The first is a great memory a billboard South of Gainesville celebrating the National Championships back in 2006. Not sure how long it was up maybe six months or more. Plenty of people talked about it am glad one day this man took the time to pull over and try to get some shots.
The second commemorates the tragic death of a young man, a monument to Eraste Autin. It’s mounted on a cut piece of light gray granite about forty inches tall and is at the left side of the entrance to Florida’s football practice field. He tried so hard, was so excited about what was just in front of him, his life. This young man had some serious form of heat stroke he died several days later in Shands. It happened before the fall practice that lead to Coach Steve Spurrier’s last season at Florida.
